Home Security Systems why its important ?

Just a couple of weeks ago, the majority of people did not think about installing a security system in their homes or businesses. After the violence and looting that occurred following the hurricane Katrina the sales have increased exponentially. Electronic Home and Business Security sales across the nation are estimated at around $28 billion a year. This figure is expected to rise by around 20 percent by the end of 2005.

The whole issue of looting is now an enigma (and even a political) problem for the majority of people, largely due to media’s perception about the issue, security systems make no discrimination based on social class, race age, gender or other factors. They do not belong to any political party or tune into talk stations.

Why security systems are important ?

However, home and business security systems play an important role in the reconstruction of homes and businesses in the communities that have been devastated around the Gulf Coast. Businesses and homeowners more than ever before are contemplating installing security systems that range in the level of sophistication. Kathy Lott, a home owner in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, said, “I’ve never given it much thought before, but after watching all the looting and fighting on tv, I figured it was worth a hundred dollars just to have the securiy it provides.

While the focus has been focused on local phone and power firms the local as well as online security stores are trying to satisfy the needs of the recent inquiries following Katrina. Gaston Collins, owner of Home Security Superstore and online at www.amazon.com, says that he has had more orders in the last 2 weeks, than the whole Christmas season last year.

“Because of the long re-building process for the damaged communities, we’re not expecting business to slow down until probably next spring, which is good news for us. We’ll probably need to hire a few more people on top of the two we hired this week,” Gaston says. “As long as guys like Rush Limbaugh and other people in the media continue to push the subject of looting and violence, I’m sure we’ll continue to see an increase in sales,” Gaston says. Gaston.

It seems that planning for a disaster been about collecting water, food and batteries in the past. but now it will also include installing and evaluating the security systems you have installed.
